雅思听说读写这四个门类里面，想必大家都为「阅读」和「写作」所需要的词汇量而抓耳挠腮。确实，这两个门类的确需要大量的词汇量和地道的英语表达方式作为铺垫才能取得更理想的分数。但是大家有没有想到，其实我们的雅思听力原文，是一个能够帮助我们积累英语表达方式的宝库呢？

　　雅思听力考验的是我们在日常生活和学习的场景下，能否顺利地提取主要信息的能力。那么就其英文的难度而言，不会像阅读那么宽的广度和深度。但是正是因为其难度有限，在听力中出现的词汇与表达方式是我们应当去掌握、去熟悉的。如果能够对听力原文中的表达方式有所积累，不但对我们的听力有利，而且也能丰富我们口语与写作的表达方式！

　　那今天，宁波环球教育黄河清老师就拿「C5T2S4」的原文，做一个简单的总结。

　　在这之前，笔者再插一句：知识点积累这一块，我们可以着重形容词以及各类短语的积累。

　　-形容词：在听力和阅读中，往往是形容词会被替换的最多，而且很大程度上形容词起着引导句子走向的左右不可小觑；

　　-短语：在听力中遇到的一些短语往往是一些非常地道的用法，我们可以积累起来，丰富自己在写作和口语中的表达方式。

　　同义替换

　　一篇听力的同义替换是我们积累表达方式的材料，大家可以仔细看看，是否是有一些表达方式，是可以用来丰富自己语料的呢？

　　-fall into the category of desert = is classified as desert

　　-living and working space = accommodation, work space

　　-the buildings are placed on platforms = building stations on platforms

　　-surveying changes = measure changes

　　-index of pollution = measure

　　-an increasing number of opportunities for young people = many openings for young people

　　生词积累

　　remote, hostile and at present uninhabited

　　remote adj. 这个词不但可以形容距离上的遥远，还可以用来形容抽象关系的距离，甚至可以应用到某种可能性的"遥远"，是一个非常灵活多变的词哦。

　　-far away in distance, time or relation 远的；遥远的；久远的；关系疏远的

　　*It happened in the remote past , so no one worries about it any more.这件事发生在很久很久以前了，所以没有人再为此担心了。

　　*They take little interest in a conflict far from their homes and remote from their everyday problems.这是一场远在他们家乡千里之外的冲突，和他们每天遇到的问题也毫不沾边，他们对其不怎么感兴趣.

　　-slight 绝少的；微小的；微乎其微的

　　*The chances of a visit by Martians to the Earth are remote.火星人访问地球的可能性微乎其微。

　　hostile adj. 这个词可能很多同学不熟悉，但是是在西方世界的报刊杂志中经常见到的词。

　　-unfriendly and not liking or agreeing with something 不友善的；敌对的；反对的

　　*The President had a hostile reception in Ohio this morning.总统今天早上在俄亥俄州受到了不友善的接待。

　　*I'm not hostile to (= against) the idea of change as such.我并不反对作这样的改变。

　　uninhabited adj. 这个词大家可以和「inhabitant - 居民」这个词一起记忆

　　-an uninhabited place does not have anyone living there 无人居住的

　　*an uninhabited island

　　-Word Family: inhabitant; inhabit;

　　-Thesaurus: empty, vacant, deserted, unoccupied;

　　self-contained community

　　self-contained adj.

　　-containing or having everything that is needed within itself 自给自足的；独立的

　　*The government wants to encourage viable self-contained rural com-munities. 政府希望促进可切实自给自足的乡村社区的发展

　　contain vt. 这个词比较正式，可以用在写作中，比「have」这类词可高级很多。

　　-to have something inside or include something as a part 包含；容纳；盛

　　*How much liquid do you think this bottle contains?你认为这个瓶可装多少液体？

　　*I've lost a file containing a lot of important documents.我丢了一个装有大量重要文件的文件夹。

　　-contain 比较正式，所以口语中会出现不同的替换

　　*The box contained books. ? The box had books in it.

　　*The essay contained a lot of mistakes. ? There were a lot of mistakes in the essay.

　　*Does this dish contain any meat? ? Is there any meat in this dish?

　　rations n. 需要注意这个词单复同形，只有复数形式。

　　-the total amount of food that is given to someone to be eaten during a particular activity and in a particular period of time, especially an amount given to soldiers when they are fighting （尤指发给作战士兵的）口粮配给，口粮定量

　　surveying changes

　　survey n. & v. 这个词即可以用来做动词，也可以作为名词存在，而且在学术的场景中会相当常见；同时大家还需要熟悉「survey」这个词的同义词，例如「poll」「questionnaire」，「research」，「study」，「review」，「investigation」等词，同时可以静下心来了解一下他们的区别

　　-an examination of opinions, behaviour, etc., made by asking people ques-tions 调查

　　*A recent survey found/revealed/showed that 58% of people did not know where their heart is.最近的一项调查显示，有58%的人不知道自己的心脏在甚么位置。
