Advertising discourages people from being different individual by making them look the same. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
When someone would like to show something that he believes unique to his friends, the most awkward moment is when his friends tend to show off the same thing to him. This is not really odd or coincident in modern society just simply because they have been attracted by the same advertisement respectively. This essay will prove that people and their lives are being homogenized by advertising that appears incessantly in people’s lives.
Admittedly, not only does advertisement promote some certain goods, but also a lifestyle seriously impacting people’s philosophy of life is being involved widely. Desire of shopping, simultaneously, is being stimulated by watching some attractive, revulsive or even misleading advertising. Consequently, without overweighing whether some certain goods are really necessary or not, consumers begin to pursue a life with some so called necessities advertised frequently. An instance in point is that majority of people in China are planning to own cars, with thinking of nothing about the urban congested traffic and limited parking lots. When the dream of owning a car comes into being is the time when they are having a similar life of being stuck in traffic jam every day.
On top of this, conformable psychology of consumers is formed by watching advertising excessively, and manufacturers are influenced likewise, which can explain why congeneric products are increasingly similar. A considerable number of options of products as advertising offers people, similarity of products cannot eventually be avoided. Assuming some smart phones people are using every day were put together, on one would be able to pick out his with one glance. People’s uniqueness will be totally beaten with meeting some people driving the same car and using the same cell phone.
In terms of what has been discussed above, people and their lives are becoming growingly similar due to their being encouraged by the advertisements to chase the same lifestyle and to purchase products with little disparity.
